It’s a mistake to get backlinks from web pages that the search engine spiders can’t crawl.
A link from a site like this will not be counted under any circumstances so, don’t waste your time. But, the link is relevant. If your link is placed on dynamic pages or other pages that are not being indexed by Google (due to the robot.txt file) then it will be of no use. So, if you want your backlinks counted then it is important that they be placed on search engine friendly pages. It’s a known fact that a backlink holds more value if it is coming from a page that doesn’t have hundreds of other links plastered on it. During your link building efforts you will come across pages known as “link farms” that have 200 or more links on them; when you do, hit the back button. But some directories that will assign “no-follow” tags to every link; it still applies and the search engines won’t count them.
Also, don’t do the blunder of not using ALT text if the only option is to use an image. Yes, image links cannot be compared to text links but if there’s a time when the only way to have a backlink is through an image, don’t ignore it.
